AN IMPORTANT LINK BETWEEN COMO AND PROMISING YOUNG ENGLISH DESIGNERS.
The Chelsea College of Arts London provided a striking backdrop to comON’s Texprint Water Competition 2010 prize award ceremony. The competition which was organized by Texprint, a British non-profit organization for spotting and promoting young fashion designers and comON Partner in talent scouting, brought together 24 of the UK’s major fashion institutes in an event where their students were called upon to create prints on fabric and jacquard inspired by the theme of water. Li Edelkoort has said that water will continue to be the central inspiration for next year’s edition of comON. The artistic level of all entries presented in the competition was remarkably high but only the most outstanding 15 were chosen for exhibition at an ad hoc art gallery for evaluation by a panel of judges consisting of Barbara Horspool of the New Look Group, Luigi Turconi of Ratti spa, Paolo Noseda : one of comON’s organizer and director of Tesso Spa.
The winners: 1st place: Joanna Fowles of Chelsea College of Arts 2nd place: Thi Nguyen of Ravensbourne College 3rd place: Zeffira Read & Emma Loughton both of Brighton University
The winners and their creations will participate in “The Week of Creativity” at the next edition of comON taking place from 17-24 October. the first and second place winners won a 6 week internship in one of Como’s textile companies and will be present with their very own stand in the Indigo area of the Premièr Vision Salone that will take place mid September at the Paris Exhibition Park. |
