An event of international importance, the 3rd edition of comON... ...is the first system of creativity sharing on a world wide scale entirely focused on identifying and supporting promising new talent in the field of fashion, design and art while emphasizing a more practical approach to the world of business. An event that has so far been well received by both the general public and acclaimed critics. This unique and exclusive project was conceived in 2008, under the auspices of the Confindustria Como, fruit of the intuition of a group of young Larian entrepreneurs in the textile sector in conjunction with the invaluable contribution of Li Edelkoort, the world’s most renowned trend forecaster, aimed at setting up a platform for cultural exchange, a laboratory for continuous training not simply limited to talent scouting but more of a European “creative hub”, providing a crossroads of opportunities to help aspiring youth in discovering their personal career paths in Como’s extraordinary artistic heritage and tradition. comON Design Workshop 2010 Among the numerous projects that made up the last edition, the comON Design Workshop 2009 on recycling discarded industrial material was so well received that it made headlines in leading national and international newspapers which gave wide coverage to this original initiative. The initiative will continue to be handled by Taissa Buescu, journalist and mastermind of last year’s event. comON Design Workshop 2010 will proceed on the theme of recycling but this year’s focus will be on “recycling ideas” revisiting pieces and/or materials from collections that are no longer in production, outdated machinery and techniques and industrial waste material. comON Design Contest – from 13.04.10 to 31.05.10 This year, the young participants in comON Design Workshop will not be nominated by their schools but will be chosen through a contest for graduates and undergraduates in their final year in industrial design from all over Italy.
