JUNGLE rules! Students leave their mark on Como.
The yellow ribbon was cut by Ennio Capasa, guest of honour at the much-awaited Jungle Party of Friday 16 October.
ComON calls, and students respond with a thunderous roar. The creative student movement came together like a single force towards the urban contamination of Jungle Party, the first self-managed party (self-organised, staged and produced) by students from the high schools of Como. Youth at the front line and on all fronts too. Jungle in the kitchen, organised by the Gianni Brera Catering Institute; displays and design by the Michelangelo, Terragni and Luini art high schools, the Melotti Art Institute, Ripamonti, Setificio and Fondazione Minoprio School of Horticulture, with hair and make-up by the Beauty and Hairstyling department of the Centro di Formazione Professionale on Via Bellinzona.
Young reporters from the Volta humanities high school got down to action to the grunge beat of the DJ set, an urban tribal explosion with percussion by Basoora, a veritable rhythmic blast that sent vibrations through the whole building.
Fashion collections created by I.T.I.S. Paolo Carcano using plastic cutlery hung from the ceiling like mysterious silhouettes.
An astonishing chair exhibition provided a genuine conceptual exploration of mixed jungle and urban vibes.
From an industrial shed to a real cult venue for contemporary cross-contamination, the Hangar Aero Club acted as the stage for a multi-discipline workshop on a par with international events of the calibre of Milan fairs and fringe events.
Nine high schools from Como, coordinated by Milan Polytechnic, IED (European Institute of Design) and NABA (New Fine Arts Academy), joined forces and worked to support a modern form of culture whose added value lies in the combination of ideas, abilities and disciplines. The energy of ComON Jungle Party has shown once and for all that creativity is contagious. And contagion, when high quality, is good. For everyone.
ComON would like to thank:
