"I graduated with a First Class Honours in Textiles and Surface Design at Bucks New University (2013-16), specialising in Print with a multimedia approach. The designs I created for my latest collection are intriguing, layered designs rich in colour and contrast. I am especially interested in designing for the body, with a variety of materials and techniques, and exploring different combinations to generate interesting aesthetics with optimal visual impact. I am hugely inspired by bespoke, couture designs with a theatrical appearance and a visual narrative; the work of artists and illustrators; movement and the body, and fundamentally the beauty found in nature. Using photography I am able to frame beautiful compositions in an especially unique, abstract and adventurous way, so that my work is completely original. Then, through a journey of combined process, including drawing and CAD, I am able to discover my designs, often beginning with an unknown outcome. I am a positive, enthusiastic person with an extremely conscientious attitude. Dedicating myself to any task I undertake, I also find added motivation in working towards unified goals within a team. Whilst especially stimulated by challenges and high pressure environments, I also have the ability to work on repetitive projects for long periods of time. I am thoroughly excited for the opportunity to learn more about the top-quality production process famous in the Como Textile District, as this will be a fantastic lesson for harnessing and focusing my own creativity, and a huge opportunity for my growth as a designer. Ultimately my aim is to be an in house textiles designer for a luxury brand or fashion house, with the challenge of meeting the extremely high standards of a brand with heritage, whilst staying at the forefront of creativity and trend."
