"Having previously studied printed textiles, my approach to woven textiles aims to push new contemporary methods of traditional understanding. The designs are rendered in flamboyant jacquard and hand constructions that explore delicate textures and generous dimensions. An unexpected contrast is formed between gauzy double-cloth structures, contemporary graphic motifs and eccentric animal-print abstractions. Exploration of materiality is key to my work, looking to contrast yarns that would not traditionally sit next to each other. Innovative jacquard techniques also promote the desire to create textiles that question process and manufacture."
